This is a workshop for both those who are already writing and those who would like to begin. In each class, we will consider one formal element of fiction or creative non-fiction such as: point of view, description, dialog, plot and pacing. Students will be given timed writing prompts, and will read their work aloud in class. Motivation, organization and inspiration for writers will be considered. Students should bring whatever they use to write (paper and pen, laptop or tablet) to each class.

Writing doesn’t always provide instant gratification, but this experimental and non-judgmental workshop will. You’ll do all your work in class, coming away with a strong memoir scene. We’ll devote time to suggestions for further development and revision. Bring your pen and notebook, or a laptop/tablet, and a sense of fun and adventure.
