Two professors from The Native American and Indigenous Studies (NAIS) program at Montclair State University will highlight examples of their work with the Ramapough Lunaape Nation on environmental justice in Ringwood and language revitalization at Munsee Three Sisters Medicinal Farm. They will describe how Indigenous values can teach a great deal to all of us, especially as we confront the impacts of the late modern age. In particular, they see the need for a closer relationship to the land as something other than property and to the way we understand the world through the native languages of this place.
NAIS is committed to community-engaged work that supports the priorities of New Jersey’s three state recognized tribes to sustain their sovereignty and develop a better public understanding and recognition of their history and culture. This presentation
