« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Known by many as the “Jewel of the Meadowlands,” the Sawmill Wildlife Management Area is the oldest protected wetlands  in the NJ Meadowlands District - and is home to a remarkable variety of birds, fish and other wildlife. Before setting out in the company of experienced guides, students will receive a briefing conducted by a senior Hackensack Riverkeeper staff person who will explain the organization’s ongoing work and mission; and speak about some of the creatures you are most likely to encounter while on the water and in the wetlands.

PLEASE NOTE: We offer both single kayaks & tandem kayaks that fit two paddlers. These will be distributed on a first come, first served basis upon arrival at Laurel Hill Park.

If you need kayaking lessons ahead of the tour you can register for them individually through the Hackensack Riverkeepers.
