ClassGraphic Richard Wagner had a unique and transformative influence not only on the development of Western music, but the history of theatre.  This course will review Wagner's  theoretical writings and study his ten mature works for the theatre, as well as his innovations in staging and theatre design.  The course will feature extensive musical selections and discussion of Wagner's troubled political and racial legacy.
