Register by July 10. No refunds. Let's explore the world-famous architecture of Yale University and the quaint college town of New Haven with Laszlo Kiss, an internationally known architect and popular Adult School instructor.
SCHEDULE:
- 7 a.m. Leave Montclair
- 10 a.m. Arrive New Haven
- 10 a.m. - 12:30 P.M. Laszlo will lead us through a tour of Yale's modernist masterpieces by architects such as Louis Kahn, Eero Saarinen, Paul Rudolph, and Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. We’ll also get to view great works of art inside the Yale Center for British Art and the Yale University Art Gallery.
- 12:30-2 p.m. Lunch break. Eat lunch on your own at one of the many cute campus-area eateries (including the famous Sally's Apizza) and browse the charming little shops, bookstores and coffeehouses near campus.
- OR Join Laszlo for a 15-minute walk (each way) to the Ingalls Rink, Yale's modernist hockey arena. You'll still have time to catch a quick bite to eat.
- 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Meet at Yale Visitors Center for student-led tour of the old campus, established in 1701, which is not accessible to solo visitors. This includes the iconic Gothic-style Sterling Memorial Library and the ivy-clad residential campuses. 3:30-4 p.m. Browse the Yale University Bookstore before getting back on the bus 4:30 p.m. Board the bus for Montclair!
- BRING: Sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes, hat. Dress in layers.
- ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION: This is a three-hour walking tour with some uneven ground. Some buildings do not include elevators. Please note: Lunch is not included. Trip goes rain or shine.
